Balloon Rocket Experiment – 4th Grade Science Projects

science fair projects for kids

Balloon Rocket Experiment – 4th Grade Science Projects :

Balloon rocket experiment is a great kids science projects ideas we can easily do at home, classroom or science fairs. It is always fun to do science projects and learn reason behind those experiments. Balloon rocket is science experiment that perfectly fits for 4th Grade Science Projects.

It is always fun to make kids science experiments. By simple knowledge about Newtons law of motion this experiment can be easily demonstrated. This 4th grade science projects are great to demonstrated and learn about Newtons third law of motion.

If you are a student for 4th or 5th grade student in primary level and are searching for 4th grade science projects then this Balloon rocket experiment can be great idea for you. Today let us learn about Newtons law with this cool experiment. Our task is to make a rocket form balloon with learn physics and doing kids science projects.

By this balloon rocket experiment we can be able to answers some of the common questions like :

  • What is Newtons third law of motion ?
  • How to make Balloon rocket experiment ?

Materials Required for making Balloon rocket experiment :

  • A medium size balloon.
  • A thin string.
  • A colorful Straw for proper representation.
  • A Scissor.
  • A Tape.

Process of Making this 4th grade science projects :

  • First of all take a medium size balloon.
  • Cut a small piece of straw.
  • Now put this straw at the end of balloon and tie it using tape.
  • Cut another peace of straw and stick it on back of balloon using tape.
  • Take a string pass it through straw we just attacked and tie its end on opposite walls.
  • Now its time to test our experiment.
  • Blow air inside balloon and leave from one end then our below starts to move as rocket.

Conclusion of Balloon rocket experiment :

This 4th Grade Science Projects can be easily performed at classroom or home. the real reason behind movement of balloon in front direction is due to Newton’s third law of motion . Which can be state as “For every action there is equal and opposite reaction.”

When we blow air in balloon and leave it then, slowly air inside balloon moves out via straw in one direction . Then due to Newton’s third law of motion the whole balloon moves in forward direction.

With this reason many other actions are possible like, Flying of air plane, firing of a gun, hitting of a ball by bat etc.

Here, we have demonstrated the whole experiments and posted in our you tube channel DIY Projects. We also performs many other science projects in our channel. We also provide many science fair ideas for school level.

A simple balloon is taken and balloon rocket experiment is performed in this science project.

Newton’s laws of motion :

There are three laws of motion which are equally important and essential to understand.

  • Newton’s first laws of motion state that, “Every object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless it is compelled to change its state by the action of an external force.”
  • Newton’s second laws of motion state that, “Acceleration of an object is dependent upon net force acting upon that object and its mass.”
  • Newton’s third laws of motion state that, “For every action there is equal and opposite reaction.”

Safety Tips for this 4th Grade Science Projects :

First priority before doing any science project is safety. We always suggest you to perform any science project protecting yourself. Some of the steps for your safety for this 4th Grade Science Projects are :

  • Always ware a safety glass which protects your eyes.
  • Do this science project with your parents, teachers or any senior brother and sister.
  • Properly handle sharp objects like scissor.
  • Always perform this experiment in open area.

Alternative process for Balloon Rocket Experiment .

You want to learn about Newton’s third law of motion but you don’t want to make this balloon rocket project. Then you can make many other projects that helps to understand and prove this law. One easy experiment is balloon bus. In this experiment you can make similar project but in place if string use it in bus or boat.

Another good 4th grade science project can be making of catapult which is also under Newton’s third law of motion.
